Community Development Puge (CAD Puge) project operates in Luowu Township, Puge County, the same area where HPP China supports POF Luowu Kindergarten with more than 200 children. The project is recognized by the local Bureau of Education as a sub project of POF Luowu Kindergarten, and a close cooperation between CAD Puge project staff and the Kindergarten’s HPP staff takes place to ensure a comprehensive impact on health, hygiene, nutrition and knowledge about early childhood in the area.
The idea of the project is to improve the nutrition, health and sanitation of children and adults in poor rural communities (3 villages) through capacity building, organized structures and training.
In 2019, 12 Village Action Groups and 2 Village committees were set up after which 100 training sessions with a total 1,746 participants were held. The project conducted health checks on 303 children which showed that children were generally malnourished. 1320 laying chickens were distributed to 220 families between April and June.
A total of 45 children in need were supported with special care whilst 3 children’s clubs were also established.
By the end of 2019, the families had a much better knowledge on health and hygiene, prevention and handling of children’s common diseases, nutrition, healthy eating habits and children's safety. Project period runs from January 2019 to December 2020.
