The Preschools of the Future (PoF) Puge Kindergarten project was established by local government in 2016; it aims to prevent poor children from becoming poor adults. The Kindergarten engages practice from China HPP’s 10 years of experience in implementing PoF schools in rural areas. In addition, it serves as a demonstration and training site for teachers from surrounding villages. In 2018, the project benefitted 180 children (aged between three to six years) and their parents. The objective is to increase to 400 children per year over a five-year period.

Engaging this concept, the project saw a significant improvement in the standard of teacher education. In April 2019, out of a total of 175 Kindergartens, PoF Luowo was chosen as one of five sites to lead the new policy of teaching children Mandarin, the official language in China. The number of students has since increased from 188 to 225 in the first half of 2019.

PoF Luowu is one of the first Kindergartens open for field visits, offering firsthand experience in implementing the government’s “Preschools Learning Mandarin Program” in action.
